Grilled Mustard Fish

Grilled Mustard Fish

This is my no fuss quick to make fish dish. You can marinate it for a minimum of half an hour. Or you can marinate it, cover with cling film and keep in the fridge for 2-3 days and grill as and when you want. It goes great with rice. I prefer the Aar maach or single boned fish for this because it has its own layer of fish oil. When you grill them they release the oil and add to the taste.

Ingredients

500 gm fish, preferably with fewer bones
3 tbsp poppy seeds
2 tbsp mustard seeds
1 onion
2-3 garlic pods
Salt to taste
A pinch of turmeric

Soak the mustard and poppy seeds in warm water for some time. Make a paste of onion, garlic, mustard and poppy seeds.

Marinate the fish in this paste for some time. Also add the salt and turmeric.

Now simply grill the fish pieces.

If you don’t have a griller you can make it in a pan. Just add a drop of oil to grease the pan and cook on very low flame.
